Choosing A School And Location

Our staff have all lived and taught in Korea and we strongly recommend considering the following points as a basis for choosing a school to teach at. Teaching English is only part of your life and experience abroad. As a teacher you will not work more than 35 hours a week, meaning you have a lot of free time on your hands for other activities, hobbies, sports and travel.

Remember, most schools (Hagwons) are pretty much the same in terms of workload and salary.

1. Choose a school that has operating hours which cater to your preferences.

2. If you enjoy shopping and browsing then make sure to get a job located in a larger city. Most Korean cities have amazing shopping districts with great deals. Please note that all Korean cities have large outdoor markets where you can find fresh produce, textiles artwork and gadgets.

3. If you enjoy hiking, climbing and outdoor activities then maybe you'll feel more comfortable living in a city located in or near the mountains.

4. If you enjoy nightlife and the bright lights atmosphere then make sure to live in one of Korea's larger cities. Seoul, Busan and Daegu are all great cities with amazing nightlife districts.

5. If you like fishing, swimming or just being on the beach then you should consider positions that are located near or on the beach.

6. Do you prefer to have roommates while living in Korea or are you the type of person who prefers to live on your own. This is a very important aspect to factor into your school selection.

Please visit the Teaching locations in Korea page of our website to explore what each city has on offer.
